Moreover, they weren't making enough money to justify keeping it up - I believe it wasn't possible to purchase 'Shark Cards' on PS3 for a long time now - not to mention that hackers on this system could easily just mod this. I'm really not surprised they decided to shutdown GTA V servers for PS3, that game did not get any updates in ages on that console.
I mean - to claim that Rockstar is practically bankrupt - you have to be really ill informed, sorry. For instance they DCMAed and then sued a project that reverse engineered and reimplemented an old GTA engine, and let me clarify, just the engine, and it was a proper RE/reimplementation, meaning that they fully own the copyright, but Rockstar went after them anyway.ĮDIT: In the case of such rotten companies probably the only thing that could work is if we gamers, as a group, just don't buy their games, telling them that 'we love your games but can't agree with your business practices' - but I doubt this will happen anytime soon. Rockstar abuses its deep pockets by filing lawsuits that are completely ridiculous if it weren't for the fact that the other side don't have nearly enough money for proper defense. Nintendo routinely sues websites offering ROMs of games that are not available for sale anymore and that it doesn't see a penny from anyway. Click to expand.Yeah, Rockstar is as notorious as Nintendo when it comes to protecting their IP, and neither cares about the bad PR they get.
